Carter Cemetery was founded in the 1860's on land given by Joseph Elmore Carter to establish a permanent family and community cemetery. The cemetery is an important feature in our community as it marks the final resting place of our ancestors, our family members, and our neighbors.  It is also a place of solace and comfort as we remember our loved ones.

Carter Cemetery is  a tangible history lesson of our area and a valuable source of information for genealogical research.  Please feel free to contact us with your questions.

In  recognition of its historic significance the Horry County Board of Architectural Review and Historic Preservation entered Carter Cemetery into the Horry County Historic Property Register on May 1, 2012.

The cemetery is located at 3295 Daisy Road about five miles southeast of Loris, South Carolina.  The Daisy Community has a rich history of families who have lived here for generations, raising their children on farms and land their ancestors cleared with mules and oxen.  Hard work ethics, honesty, and community pride have been handed down through the years and continue to make this a special place to live.  It is also for these generations of families that we desire to maintain Carter Cemetery with respect and dignity.
